Chapel Hill, N.C. - Six North Carolina women's gymnasts will be honored prior to the Tar Heels' final home meet of the 2000 season when they face Towson University and Yale University on Friday night.
The graduating seniors being honored are Meredith McDermott (Parkland, Fla.), Jodi Meadows (Pollocksville, N.C.), Julie Pasqualini (Woodbridge, Va.), Megan Piper (Jacksonville, N.C.), Erica Roberts (Plano, Texas) and Kelly Walker (Charlotte, N.C.).
The Tar Heels are looking to complete a perfect 4-0 record at home this season after recording an undefeated home mark of 5-0 last season. Carolina as a team has recorded team scores over 194 in the past two weeks at home which help their overall team average in Region 6 to increase their chances to move on to post season competition.
The Tar Heels score of 194.575 against James Madison two weeks ago was the third highest team total in school history while their mark of 194.200 against William & Mary last Friday was the fourth highest score ever.
Individually, sophomore Monica Middleton and junior Brooke Wilson are looking to continue her solid all-around performances against Towson and Yale on Friday night. Middleton posted a collegiate career high score of 38.825 in the meet last week against William & Mary, while Wilson's 39.400 all-around score was only .025 off her personal high and Carolina all-time mark.
Senior introductions will begin at 7:00 with competition to follow at 7:15 p.m. The meet will be held at Carmichael Auditorium on the UNC campus and admission is free.
