UNC's Newton Posts 162 Total After Second Round At NCAAs

SUNRIVER, Ore. - University of North Carolina golfer Marcy Newton carded a 78 in the second round and is tied for 113th place with a 162 total at the halfway point of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships. The 72-hole event is being played at the Crosswater Golf Club at the Sunriver Resort and features a par 72, 6,482-yard layout.
Newton, a senior from High Point, N.C. and a three-time All-ACC performer, has won three tournaments during her career as a Tar Heel - the 1997 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic, the 1999 Fripp Island Intercollegiate and the 2000 Bryan National Collegiate.
The NCAA Championships continue through Saturday.
