Softball's Henderson Named All-ACC Tournament

After leading the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament field in batting, UNC senior Crystal Henderson was chosen to represent the Tar Heels on the ACC-All Tournament team, announced Monday in Tallahassee, Fla. In two tournament games, Henderson was 4-for-7 at the plate, batting .571 with a home run and two doubles.
Henderson was joined on the team by Florida State's Natalie Bennett, Staci Brandon, Serita Brooks and Leslie Malerich, Georgia Tech's Heather Sumrow, Maryland's Sarah Putnam, and Virginia's Amy Peay, Ruby Rojas and Meaghan Young. Malerich, who led FSU to the title, was named MVP.
The Tar Heels finish the regular season this afternoon against East Carolina with a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Finley Field. Carolina's two seniors, Henderson and center fielder Jen Klesaris, will be honored before the start of the first game.
UNC is 45-17 on the season and 6-2 in South Atlantic Softball Alliance play and remains in the running for an automatic bid to the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
