New York, N.Y. -- Former Tar Heel and current New York Jets running back Leon Johnson will miss the entire 2000 NFL season.
Johnson underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee, which he apparently injured in training camp earlier in June. Johnson injured the same knee in the first game of the 1999 season and missed the remainder of the season.
Johnson was a four-year star at North Carolina. He is the only player in ACC history to be in the top five in career all-purpose yards, top five in career touchdowns, top five in career scoring, top 10 in career rushing yards and top 10 in career receptions.
