UNC Softball Welcomes Freshman Class of Seven

The University of North Carolina softball program welcomed its freshmen and their families to campus on Sunday, Aug. 20, with a picnic lunch. The incoming class, the Tar Heels' biggest in years, includes seven freshmen. They are:
- P/1BJenna Bischoff, who is from Tallahassee, Fla., and attended Leon High
- OF/P Heather Hughes, who is from Hope Mills, N.C., and attended Southview High
- OF/P Lauren Looper, who is from Charlotte and attended North Mecklenburg High
- SS/2B Emily Price, who is from Decatur, Ill., and attended Eisenhower High
- C/IF Jessica Robinson, who is from Asheboro and attended Asheboro High
- OF/SS Natashalyn Snipes, who is from Durham and attended Northern High
- SS/IF Dionne Streete, who is from Pembroke Pines, Fla., and attended Flanagan High
The seven join a group of 13 returning letterwinners, which includes five seniors. The Tar Heels will play three doubleheaders this fall, beginning Sept. 22 when they host UNC Greensboro on Sept. 22. Averett visits on Sept. 29 and Louisburg Junior College comes to town on Oct. 20. The spring season opens on Feb. 3 at South Carolina.
