Softball Drops Series Finale To No. 18 Duke, 8-2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball dropped the series finale to No. 18 Duke on Sunday afternoon by a score of 8-2.

The Blue Devils were able to grab a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning and didn't look back. The Tar Heel bats struggled until the fifth inning when a Rayna Blackwell double plated a run and Sanaa Thompson's single plus a fielding error scored the second run of the inning.

Carly Maxton was excellent in relief, throwing 2.1 innings and giving the offense a chance to get back into the game by allowing just one run.

UNC left the bases loaded in the seventh inning with chance to get back in the game and fell 8-2.
