
Carolina Volleyball Sweeps Delaware 3-0.

CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina volleyball team swept Delaware 3-0 (15-5, 15-2, 15-5) in day two of the Carolina/Nike Classic. A balanced Carolina team posted a .264 hitting average, while the Blue Hens were only able to hit .038. The Tar Heels remain undefeated at Carmichael Auditorium this season.
Junior Krista Buchholz led the Tar Heels with nine kills and freshman Nicole Reis contributed eight kills and two digs. Setters Eve Rackham and Jen Schirner posted 19 and 18 assists respectively. Outside hitter Malaika Underwood tallied 13 digs and four kills and senior Lisa Fryer contributed 12 digs.
Delaware was led by Margaret Lapinski who recorded double digits with 10 kills and 10 digs. Jennifer Wanner posted 10 digs and eight kills and Allison hunter tallied 21 assists.
In other action today, Santa Clara defeated Louisville 3-1 (15-11, 15-4, 10-15, 15-3). Santa Clara posted four players with double digit kills. Ynez Carrasco tallied 20 kills and 18 digs to lead the Broncos to victory.
Carolina and Santa Clara are both 2-0 for the classic and will face off in the championship game tonight (Sept. 16) at 7:00.
