
Carolina Volleyball Defeats N.C. State

Raleigh, N.C.--In a little over an hour the University of North Carolina volleyball team swept NC State (15-2, 15-3, 15-10) Tuesday night 9Sept. 26)at Reynolds Coliseum. The Tar Heels move to a 3-0 ACC record and 13-2 for the season.
Senior Casey Simpson led the Heels posting 14 kills with only 2 errors on 32 attempts for a .375 hitting percentage. Setter Eve Rackham chipped in 29 assists, five kills and seven digs. Malaika Underwood collected a match-high 10 digs, five kills and three blocks.
In games one and two, Carolina kept the NC State to a total of 5 points as they out hit the Wolfpack .055 to .270 for the match. In game three with the Tar Heels leading 12-3, the Wolfpack went on a 5-0 streak to close to 12-8. Carolina rallied back allowing only two more points and would take game three 15-10.
Charece Williams led NC State with 11 kills and six digs . Crystal Shannon tallied 26 assists and Tara Greene added eight digs. NC State is now 0-3 in the ACC and 5-9 for the season.
The Carolina Tar Heels continue their road trip playing #12 ranked Florida on Sunday (Oct. 1). UNC will bounce from Florida, to Maryland and finally Virginia before heading back to Carmichael on Friday (Oct. 13) to face off against Wake Forest.
