Three Tar Heels in Senior Bowl

Mobile, Ala. ----- Three North Carolina football players will participate in the Delchamps Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 20, including tight end Alge Crumpler and linebackers Brandon Spoon and Sedrick Hodge. All three will play for the North squad.
Crumpler, a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer, is thought by many experts to be the top tight end in this year's NFL Draft (April 21-22). A finalist for the John Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's top tight end, Crumpler finished his career with 68 catches for 760 yards and five touchdowns.
One of the nation's leading tacklers, Brandon Spoon is the only player ever nominated to the Butkus Award List on four occasions. He led the Tar Heels with over 100 tackles in 1998 (138) and 2000 (131). He was injured (torn biceps) in the second game of the 1999 season and received a medical redshirt.
One of the fastest linebackers in the country, Hodge had 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks last season, which ranked eighth in the ACC. He was second on the team with 82 tackles, including 55 solo stops and 27 assists.
Kickoff for the 52nd annual Delchamps Senior Bowl is at 1:00 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game will be nationally-televised by ESPN.
