Williams Rushes For 147 Yards: Andre' Williams rushed 28 times for 147 yards, the first 100-yard game of his career. Williams has registered a new career high for rushing in four of the last five games. He rushed for 50 yards at Texas, 53 yards against FSU, 68 yards versus NC State and 147 today. In today's first quarter, he a had a career-long 38-yard run. His previous long was 22 yards at Texas. Williams's 147 yards were the most by a Tar Heel since Willie Parker ran for 158 last year against Maryland.
Curry Honored Before Kickoff: Ronald Curry was honored prior to today's kickoff as Carolina's all-time leader in total offense. The senior quarterback eclipsed Jason Stanicek's record of 5,497 yards last weekend versus East Carolina and finished today's game with 5,641 yards of career total offense after throwing for 81 and rushing for 39 while splitting time with Darian Durant. Stanicek was on hand to present Curry a game ball.
Big Day On The Ground: Carolina entered the game with just one run of more than 30 yards on the season, Willie Parker's 77-yard TD run at Maryland. But Ronald Curry had a season-long 39-yard run in the second quarter and Andre' Williams had a career-long 38-yard rush in the first quarter to help the Tar Heels to their most productive day on the ground this season -- 234 yards.
Peppers Gets Two More Sacks: Julius Peppers had two sacks for nine yards and now has 8.5 for the season and 29.5 for his career. He is three behind the school record of 32.5 held by Greg Ellis.
Curry To Aiken: Ronald Curry's 66-yard touchdown pass to Saim Aiken in the second quarter was the longest pass play of the season for UNC and Aiken's longest catch of his career. Curry's 53-yard pass to Kory Bailey vs. Florida State was the previous long pass play of the season. Darian Durant also had a 53-yard pass play to Chesley Borders in today's win.
Perkins Returns: Fifth-year senior DT Anthony Perkins, who tore the MCL and PCL in his right knee last spring and was thought to be out for the season, returned to the UNC lineup in the first quarter of today's game.
Big Day For Durant: Darian Durant was 10 of 16 for a career and UNC season high of 162 yards. His 10 completions give him 67 for the season, a new freshman record at UNC. The previous was 66 by Ronald Curry in 1998.
