
Men's Soccer Shuts Out Old Dominion, 2-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina scored two goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to break open a scoreless tie and give the Tar Heels a 2-0 win over Old Dominion in collegiate men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Fetzer Field. Marcus Storey had a goal and an assist for the Tar Heels and now leads Carolina with 23 points this season.
The win was Carolina's ninth in a row and improves UNC to 13-2 this season. The Tar Heels have shutout their last five opponents and have eight shutouts this season.
With the loss, Old Dominion falls to 7-5-1.
David Stokes scored Carolina's first goal at the 78:32 mark on a header off a corner kick. Noz Yamauchi sent the corner kick into the box, where it was flicked by Storey to Stokes, who headed it into the lower right corner of the net past ODU keeper Chad Calderone.
Storey gave UNC a 2-0 lead five minutes later at 83:26. Chris Leitch dribbled nearly the length of the field down the left sideline and passed to Storey, who scored his eighth goal of the season.
Carolina will return to action on Saturday night with an Atlantic Coast Conference match at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.
