Tar Heels Continue Play In Regional Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Tar Heel men's tennis team continued play Thursday in the Omni Hotels/ITA Region II Championships presented by Top of the Hill.
Sophomore Andy Metzler fell in the second round of qualifying in singles Thursday but he and teammate Marcio Petrone did advance through the qualifying stages in doubles.
oth of UNC's doubles teams in the main draw won one match Thursday night but then fell in the second round. Freshman Geoff Boyd and sophomore Nicholas Monroe fell to the #8 seeded team from Georgia Tech.
Carolina will have four players starting singles play in the main draw of the tournament on Friday. Senior Marcio Petrone is the #3 seed in the tournament. He will be joined by junior Trystan Meniane as well as Boyd and Monroe.
