Dear Carolina Fans:
This Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. the Tar Heels play SMU at Kenan Stadium. This is a football game that was re-scheduled in the aftermath of the September 11 attack on our country. This is also a very important game for our football program and we need your support in Kenan on Saturday.
We must beat SMU to win our seventh game and become bowl eligible. Our players have worked for this opportunity for 12 months. We want to send our seniors out on a winning note in their final game in Kenan Stadium. SMU is coming to town riding a two-game winning streak, and we need an enthusiastic, vocal crowd behind us. Your Tar Heels love to play this great game of football. They will play hard for 60 minutes and I hope you will cheer wildly for 60 minutes, as well.
This is our final chance this season to play in the best college football stadium in the country. It's a big game and I look forward to seeing you and hearing you on Saturday. If you have tickets but can't come to the game, please get the tickets to another Carolina fan who can go to the game. Other teams across the country have played re-scheduled games in front of smaller-than-usual crowds due to re-scheduling and that has taken away some of their home field advantage. We are 4-1 at home this year, and your support will help us win five home games for the first time in five years.
Remember to join us for the Old Well Walk at 11:15 a.m. The team arrives at the Old Well and walks to the stadium through Tar Heel Town. The Old Well Walk has given our players and staff an emotional lift every game this year. We can't wait to see you at the Walk and at The Game this Saturday.
