North Carolina Signs Two Women's Golfers For 2002-03

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Beth Marushak, from Northampton, Pa., and Josie Shinn, from Pinehurst, N.C., have signed letters-of-intent to play collegiate golf at the University of North Carolina beginning in 2002-03.
Marushak, who attends Northampton Area High School, is the 2001 Pennsylvania State High School Champion. She is the 2001 Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, a four-time district champion, three-time all conference performer ('99, '00, '01), two-time runner-up at the State Junior Championship ('99, '00) and medalist at her 2001 U.S. Junior Girls Qualifier.
Shinn attends Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines and is the the 2001 N.C. State High School Champion. She was the 2000-01 Player of the Year in the NIKE Winternational Junior Series of Golf after winning six of nine events.
"We are thrilled to have Beth and Josie become members of the Tar Heel family," says North Carolina Head Coach Sally Austin. "Both are currently state high school champions and we are excited about their upcoming careers at Carolina."
