CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Candace Sutton had 18 points and Coretta Brown scored 13 of her 16 points in the second half as No. 20 North Carolina beat Maryland 85-58 on Sunday.
Nikki Teasley also had 16 points, and reserve Courtney Chambers added 12 for the Tar Heels (10-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who used a 31-3 run in the first half to take over the game.
Sutton hit five of her first seven shots and had 10 first-half points as the Tar Heels led 42-22 at halftime.
Maryland led 17-9 after consecutive baskets by Deedee Warley. The Terrapins (7-5, 1-1) then missed 10 of their next 11 shots and turned the ball over eight times in an 8:45 span to lose the lead.
Marche Strickland led Maryland with 15 points, Renneika Razor added 13 and Warley had 12.
Maryland had more turnovers (23) than baskets (19) while shooting 33 percent from the field for the game. North Carolina recorded 13 steals, five made by rown.
