Freshman Chris Collins Earns ACC Wrestler of the Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina redshirt freshman Chris Collins has earned the ACC Wrestler of the Week honor after going 3-0 last week to help lead the Tar Heels to three wins, including two wins over ACC opponents.
Collins, a 125-pounder from Rock Hill, S.C., posted one pin and two technical falls in three matches last week. He pinned Duke's Tommy Hoang in 3:09 on Tuesday, Feb. 6, as Carolina defeated Duke 35-3. In a 21-13 Tar Heel victory over Navy on Saturday, Feb. 10, Collins won by technical fall, 17-2.
To close out his perfect week, Collins won by technical fall over Maryland's Joe Guzzio, 17-2, on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Tar Heels defeated Maryland 24-12 and are a perfect 4-0 in ACC competition.
Collins has now won six of his last eight matches by either pin fall or technical fall. The wins last week helped Collins improve his record to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in league matches.
