CHAPEL HILL, NC-- The University of North Carolina gymnastics team hosts William & Mary Friday, Feb. 23 in Carmichael Auditorium at 7 p.m. Carolina has defeated William & Mary twice during the 2001 season.
At their first meeting in Williamsburg, Carolina scored a 191.850 taking the top four places in the all-around. Senior Brooke Wilson placed first in the all-around with a 39.375 and was named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week. Wilson also received this honor after her beam performance at the Governor's Cup where she scored the first perfect10 in Carolina gymnastics history.
Their second meeting was at the Hearts Invitational hosted by NC State. Carolina placed fourth (193.025) and William & Mary finished fifth (190.700). Wilson placed third in the all-around with a 39.225 and tied for second on floor exercises with a 9.900.
UNC Women in Sports Spring Tour is sponsoring the Carolina vs. William & Mary gymnastics meet. At the meet, the first 50 fans will receive a free t-shirt and the first 150 fans receive a rally towel.
Carolina hosts Eastern Michigan, Illinois and Radford Sunday, March 4 in Carmichael Auditorium at 1 p.m.
