Senior gymnast Brooke Wilson, who is heading to her fourth NCAA Regional, sat down with TarHeelBlue.com to discuss her career at Carolina and her experiences at NCAA Regional meets.
Wilson on her fourth trip to NCAA Regionals...
"I am looking forward to this NCAA's more than any other. Gymnastics wise I feel wonderful, my body is healthy my routines feel good and I am ready to go out and perform. It is also my last chance at nationals which is very exciting and scary at the same time. We have three girls traveling to Regionals and we are all so excited and ready to go it is going to be a blast."
Wilson on preparing for this NCAA Regional appearance...
"Since this is my last NCAA Regionals and last season as a whole I have gone into the entire season with the mindset of making sure that I enjoy every minute of it. After 18 years of gymnastics it is hard to comprehend that this is it, and I want to walk away from this amazing experience knowing that I put everything into it. We have been preparing hard, but we have been preparing hard through the entire season, so we are ready. Just a little bit of polish here and there that's all we really need."
Wilson on her most memorable gymnastics moment...
"This is a question that I am presented with and never know what to say, the entire experience has been memorable and unforgettable. You can't really define one moment, it has brought so many amazing people into my life. That I would say that the people and friends that I have gained from it are what I am the most thankful for."
Wilson on her role as a leader on the team...
"I feel that my leadership role hasn't been any different than anyone else's, we all have our different things that we are god at. The only thing that I can do just like everyone else, is give support, love, and 100% everyday that I walk into the gym."
Wilson on being the only senior...
"I don't like to think of myself as being a senior then I have to think about being done with gymnastics and school, and leaving Carolina, which I just haven't come to terms with yet."
Wilson on why she choose Noth Carolina...
"Is there really any other place that compares?"
Wilson on her favorite event to perform and watch...
"My favorite event to perform and watch has to be floor, it is the most exciting and amazing. It is incredible what some gymnasts are able to do. I like to compete on floor because you can really show your personality and have a good time by drawing the audience in."
