First Four Football Game Times Released

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- The first four games of the 2001 University of North Carolina football season have been set and three of the first four games, including matchups against Oklahoma, Maryland and Texas, will be televised.
As previously announced, the season opener on Aug. 25 against Oklahoma in the Hispanic College Fund Classic will be nationally televised on ESPN at 7:45 p.m.
ABC has announced that it will televise the following two Tar Heel games against Maryland (Sept. 1) and Texas (Sept. 8), with both games beginning at Noon Eastern. The Maryland game will be televised regionally and the Texas game will be televised nationally.
Carolina will play its first home game under new head coach John Bunting against SMU on Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
