Curry, Williams Earn Academic All-ACC Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Ronald Curry, North Carolina's record-setting quarterback, and Andre' Williams, UNC's starting tailback in eight games in the 2001 season, were named to the 2001 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic football team on Tuesday. To be eligible, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
The MVP in Carolina's 16-10 win over Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Curry established school career records for total offense, passing yards, rushing touchdowns by a quarterback and rushing yards by a quarterback. In 2001, he started 11 games, including the Peach Bowl, and helped lead Carolina to an 8-5 record.
Williams led Carolina with 520 yards rushing in 2001 and scored four touchdowns. He started his first career game in Carolina's 41-9 victory over Florida State. His best performance of the season came against Virginia when he gained 147 yards on 28 carries and scored one touchdown.
