Tar Heels Face Big Road Game at Maryland

Chapel Hill -- The Carolina men's soccer team will play its second consecutive road Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday night when it visits Maryland at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field in College Park. The Tar Heels (7-3, 1-1 ACC) are coming off a 4-0 win at Elon on Wednesday night but lost last weekend at Duke, 1-0. Maryland (8-2, 2-1 ACC) did not play a midweek game this week after dropping a 3-0 decision at Wake Forest last Friday night. Earlier this season, the Terrapins beat Duke, 3-0 and Clemson 2-1 (in two overtimes).
In This Week's National Rankings: Carolina is not ranked in this week's NSCAA coaches' poll, but is ranked No. 21 by Soccer America and No. 18 by Soccer Times. Maryland is ranked sixth, 13th and 10th in the three polls.
Carolina vs. Maryland:Maryland leads the all-time series with Carolina, 34-20-2. The Terrapins won the first 20 meetings in the series, from 1949-1968.
The Tar Heels have won their last two games with Maryland - a 5-1 win in College Park in 2000 and a 2-1 win in Chapel Hill in 2001. Carolina has won its last two games against the Terps in College Park, including the 2000 victory and a 2-1 overtime win in 1998.
Testo Out 2-4 Weeks with Sprained Right Ankle Senior forward David Testo, who scored the game-winning goal in Carolina's win over Virginia on Sept. 21, sprained his right ankle in the 23rd minute of the Sept. 28 loss at Duke and did not return against the Blue Devils. Testo is expected to miss two to four weeks of action.
In other injury news for the Tar Heels, sophomore midfielder Ray Fumo has a pulled muscle and did not play on Wednesday against Elon. His status against Maryland will be a game-time decision.
