Head coach Mike Fox
"It was a great way to break in our new scoreboard. It's the great thing about baseball -- it's not over until you want it to be over. I was proud of our team even if we had lost. Even though we were down I liked our chances with Chris Maples and Russ Adams and their experience. That's what we have this year is experience. It was a great win for us. We know it's a long season but we'll take this one. We played some young guys today, Mell Adams and Mickey Burgess, and I was really proud of them. They did really well."
Fox on pitching
"That's another good thing about this first game is that we got to use a lot of pitchers. Carter Harrell came in the game at the end and did a really find job and I believe he has a chance to be really good for us. I brought him in the game even though we were behind but he has pitched very well in scrimmages. Scott Autry could have pitched better than he did. I don't think he had quite the command he's capable of, but he kept us in the game for five innings and that's all we ask our pitchers to do. Scott Senatore, one or our lefties, came in and did a good job too."
Fox on his team's mood in the dugout:
"We have maturity in the dugout this year and we had no sense of panic. We just did our business and realized that they have to get us out 27 times and until then we are going to keep playing hard."
