Thompson Named National Player of the Week for Second Straight Week

CHAPEL HILL -- University of North Carolina women's lacrosse player Kellie Thompson scored four points against No. 1-ranked Duke to earn National Player of the Week honors from Inside Lacrosse, the magazine announced late Tuesday.
Thompson had three goals and an assist as the fifth-ranked Tar Heels shutout Duke in the first half and went on to win, 10-4, and claim first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
It is the second consecutive week that Thompson has earned National Player of the Week recognition. Last week, she was honored for by AllLacrosseAmerica.com for the week of March 4-10.
Four honorable mention players were selected including James Madison's Lisa Staedt, Virginia's Elizabeth Pinney, Johns Hopkins' Jaime Larrimone and last week's Player of the Week Theresa Sherry from Princeton.
