April 5, 2002
Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- Kickoff for the Miami (OH) game is still 5 months away, but there's great football action in Kenan Stadium next weekend when the Tar Heels hold their annual spring football game on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
And, like all other football weeks, the John Bunting Live! radio show will take place on Thursday evening at Lucy's Restaurant in Chapel Hill beginning at 7 p.m. The Show will be heard on approximately 40 affiliates.
Spring football is a chance for many young Tar Heels to earn playing time in the fall, and it's your chance to get an up-close look at the 2002 Tar Heels. Admission to the spring game is free (enter through gate 6).
We also want to make sure you keep your tailgating skills sharp. So don't miss the Mini Tar Heel Town outside of the Kenan Football Center!
Tar Heel Town will be open from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and will feature a live broadcast of WCHL's Carolina Sports Connection radio show - hosted by Jones Angell and featuring former Tar Heel greats and current staff members. Parker's Barbeque will be at Tar Heel Town with North Carolina barbeque plates for $6. There also will be inflatable games for kids!
Season ticket applications for the 2002 season will be available at the Spring game.
Following the game, an autograph session will be conducted on the concourse of the Kenan Football Center.
Also, don't miss out on other Super Saturday festivities while you are in Chapel Hill. The baseball team takes on Clemson at 3 p.m. in Boshamer Stadium, while the men's lacrosse team faces UMBC in Kenan Stadium at 4 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: If you plan on having Parker's Barbeque at the spring game, please send an email to marketing@uncaa.unc.edu to be sure we have enough for everyone.
