Women's Golf In 12th At Fifth Annual Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate in twelveth place. The three-day, 54 hole tournament, is being played at the par-72, 6,064 Bryan Park Champions Course. Duke University, with a 289 score, are in first place in team standings. The Blue Devils are led by Virada Nirapathpongporn who tied the tournament record for the lowest round with a 65 which also gives her sole possession of first place in individual scoring. In second place is Angela Jerman from Georgia with a 67, while one stroke behind in third is Ashley Lowery of Ohio State at 68. Summer Sirmons, also from the University of Georgia, follows in fourth at 70 while Amelia Farrah of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Emma Zaclrosspm of Oklahoma State University are both tied for fifth at 71.
Following Duke in second place in team standings is Ohio State at 289, while Wake Forest and Georgia are both tied for third at 293. Oklahoma State rounds out the top five with a score of 296.
For the University of North Carolina, Ashley Prange is in a twelve-way tie for 14th place with a first round total of two-over-par-74. Beth Lever is tied for 33rd at 76, while teammates Shelley McKevitt follows with a 77, Meghan Adams with a 79 and Abby Spector is tied for 70th with a first round score of eight-over-par-80.
The second round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, with the third and final round beginning in a shotgun start on Sunday morning, also an 8:30 a.m. start.
