Chapel Hill, N.C. - Ashley Prange, a sophomore on the University of North Carolina women's golf team, was selected to the 2002 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team announced today by the conference office. Prange, from Noblesville, Ind., will lead the Tar Heels in the NCAA East Regional this Thursday through Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
Duke, ranked second nationally, dominated the All-ACC team as four of the seven selections are Blue Devils - Candy Hannemann (senior, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Leigh Anne Hardin (sophomore, Martinsville, Ind.), Virada Nirapathpongporn (sophomore, Bangkok, Thailand) and Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh (freshman, Lausanne, Switzerland). Along with Prange, the other selections include Wake Forest's Nuria Clau (junior, Barcelona, Spain) and Florida State's Kristin Tamulis (junior, Naples, Fla.).
Duke sophomore Virada Nirapathpongporn was chosen Player of the Year while teammate Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh was named Rookie of the Year. NC State Head Coach Page Marsh was selected the league's Coach of the Year in just her second year at the helm and the Wolfpack's second year in the conference.
