CHAPEL HILL -- Tar Heel senior Christine McPike has been named the 2002 national Midfielder of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, the organization announced on Monday.
Also honored were Rachael Becker of Princeton (Defender of the Year), Erin Elbe of Georgetown (Attacker of the Year) and Tricia Dabrowski of Loyola (Goalkeeper of the Year).
Monday's announcement is the latest in a long list of honors this season for McPike, who has been named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP and All-ACC this season. She was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy and the Honda Award for lacrosse, both of which awarded to the national player of the year.
McPike and the Tar Heels went 17-3 last season, won the 2002 ACC championship and advanced to the NCAA Final Four.
