The following is some of the latest news and notes surrounding the Carolina football program:
"It's always tough for a football team to lose a player due to injury," Bunting said. "But it is tougher when the players gets injured off the field."
The Tar Heels expect to move Jacques Dumas to the left side to fill Mooring's position. Bunting also said Tommy Davis, Larry Jessup and Jermicus Banks could see more playing time.
"When I saw that we had an open date early in the season, I knew wherever the Stones were playing, we were going to go see them," Bunting said. "They had a lot of energy and played for almost two and a half hours. We had a great time."
The Buntings continued up the East coast on Saturday for the the opening of a new Rams Club chapter in New York City. Don McCauley was the featured speaker at the event at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
Huxtable spent six seasons on Georgia Tech's defensive staff from 1992-97. While serving as linebackers coach for all six seasons, he was also special teams coordinator from 1992-94 and then defensive coordinator from 1996-97. He was part of the coaching staff that led Georgia Tech to a 35-30 win over West Virginia in the 1997 Carquest Bowl. Huxtable was promoted to UNC's defensive coordinator after a year as the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.
Tenuta spent one year with the Tar Heels in 2001. Carolina, led by All-Americas Julius Peppers and Ryan Sims, finished first in the ACC and 15th in the nation in total defense (305.3 yards per game).
