UNC in Seventh Place at ACC/SEC Challenge

DESTIN, Fla. - The University of North Carolina finished its first round on Friday in seventh place with a 17-over-par 301 at the Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge. Mississippi State University and Auburn University are in the lead each with a 10-under 294. The University of Florida, who is the defending champion, is one back at 295. Duke University shot a 297 and is in fourth place. North Carolina State is in fifth place, five shots back of the lead with a 299. Florida State University, the host team, finished the round at 300 and in sixth place. Furman University is currently in eighth place with a round of 303.
Elizabeth Janagelo of Duke shot a 30 on the back nine and is in first place with a four-under 67. Two other players shot under par: Kelly Anders of Kentucky shot a three-under 68 and Celeste Troche of Auburn shot a one-under 70. Brandi Jackson of Furman, Beth Irwin and Sofie Andersson of Mississippi State, and Diana Ramage of Auburn are tied for fourth place at even-par 71. Joining UNC's Abby Spector in eighth place are Florida's Andrea Vander Lende and Jeanne Cho, Georgia's Lisa Tyler, and Flordia State's Alison Curdt, all at a two-over 73.
Other Tar Heel finishes include: Ashley Prange, tied for 19th with a four-over 75; Meaghan Francella, tied for 29th with a five-over 76; Meghan Adams, tied for 35th with a six-over 77; and Stacy Hilton, tied for 51st with a ten-over 81.
The 54-hole event is being played at the Sandestin Golf Resort, a par 71, 5,937-yard course.
