North Carolina Defeats Davidson 3-0

Davidson, N.C. - North Carolina overcame a sluggish start to defeat Davidson 3-0. The Tar Heels improve to 11-5 on the season. Junior outside hitter Molly Pyles led the charge with eight kills and eight digs for Nortth Carolina.
Senior middle hitter Aletha Green had nine kills and three blocks and junior middle hitter Katie Wright had nine kills and four blocks. Two freshmen, middle hitter Emily Guerry and outside hitter Meg Eckert helped spark the Tar Heel victory. Eckert had six kills, ten digs and three blocks, while Guerry had three kills and two blocks.
North Carolina struggled during the first game, but was able to pull out the win, 30-28. In the second game, the Tar Heels struggled again early and didn't lead until a Wright spike made it 20-19. UNC pulled out the game 30-23. The Tar Heels finished off Davidson with a more consistent effort in the third game, as they won 30-25.
UNC next heads to Raleigh, N.C. to take on ACC rival N.C. State Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
