NFL Update: Week Eight

Week eight of the 2003 NFL season had some very bright moments for several former University of North Carolina football players.
rian Simmons, in his sixth season with the Cincinnati Bengals had five tackles, one assist, one interception, two pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Bengals' 27-24 victory over the Seahawks.
Greg Ellis of the Dallas Cowboys had four tackles, three assists, one sack, one pass deflection and forced one fumble in the Cowboys' 16-0 loss to the Buccaneers.
Julius Peppers, of the Carolina Panthers, forced running back Deuce McAllister, of the New Orleans Saints, to fumble the ball on a fourth and one in the over time period; Carolina recovered the ball, drove 50 yards and subsequently won the game 23-20 by virtue of a 31-yard field goal, by the 13 year veteran from Georgia, John Kasay.

-Sam Aiken, Buffalo Bills- substituted at wide receiver and had one tackle in the Bills 38-5 loss to the Chiefs.
-Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins- Open Date.
-Dre' Bly, Detroit Lions-started at cornerback and had three tackles, one assist and one punt return for 6-yards in the Lions' 24-16 loss to the Bears.
-Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons-Open Date.
-Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders- Open Date.
-Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals- started at defensive tackle and had two tackles in the Cardinals' 16-13 victory over the 49ers.
-Kevin Donnalley, Carolina Panthers-started at offensive guard in Carolina's 23-20 overtime victory over New Orleans.
-Ebenbzer Ekuban, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one tackle in the Cowboys' 16-0 loss to the Buccaneers.
-Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had four tackles, three assists, one sack, one pass deflection and forced one fumble in the Cowboys' 16-0 loss to the Buccaneers.
-Benardo Harris, Baltimore Ravens- Injured Reserve.
-William Henderson, Green Bay Packers- Open Date.
-Zack Hilton, New Orleans Saints- Not Active.
-Sedrick Hodge, New Orleans Saints- Not Active.
-Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs- started at defensive end and had one tackle in the Chiefs 38-5 victory over the Bills.
-Leon Johnson, San Diego Chargers- substituted at running back in the Chargers' 26-10 loss to the Dolphins.
-Freddie Jones, Arizona Cardinals- started at tight end and had three receptions for 22-yards in the Cardinals' 16-13 victory over the 49ers.
-Quincy Monk, NY Giants- Not Active.
-Keith Newman, Atlanta Falcons- Open Date.
-Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers- started at defensive end and had three tackles, one assist and one forced fumble in the Panthers' 23-20 overtime victory over the Saints.
-Jeff Reid, Pittsburgh Steelers- kicked three point-after conversions in Pittsburgh's 33-21 loss to the Saint Louis Rams.
-Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts- started at center in the Colts' 30-21 victory over Houston.
-Brian Simmons, Cincinnati Bengals- started at linebacker and had five tackles, one assist, one interception, two pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Bengals' 27-24 victory over the Seahawks.
-Ryan Sims, Kansas City Chiefs- started at nose tackle and had one tackle, one pass deflection and one interception in the Chiefs' 38-5 victory over the Bills.
-David Thornton, Indianapolis Colts- started at linebacker and had four tackles in the Colts' 30-21 victory over Houston.
-Bracey Walker, Detroit Lions- substituted at safety and had one tackle on regular defensive plays and one tackle and one assist on special teams in Detroits'24-16 loss to Chicago.
