Carolina Wrestling, Gymnastics Host Beauty and the Beast Exhibition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina wrestling and gymnastics teams will kick off their 2003-04 seasons Sunday with the first annual Beauty and the Beast Exhibition. Fans can catch both teams in action simultaneously at Carmichael Auditorium beginning at 1 p.m.
The gym floor will be split in half with one side devoted to wrestling and the other to gymnastics. The Tar Heel wrestlers will compete in eight matches, while the gymnastic squad will be performing various routines. Also performing will be a national champion youth cheerleading squad. The event is expected to conclude around 3 p.m.
This is the first of two exhibitions for the wrestling team, which hosts the annual Blue-White Meet Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. The 21st-ranked Tar Heels open the regular season Nov. 23 at the Missouri Open. The gymnastics squad opens its season Jan. 18, 2004, at the George Washington Invitational.
