Week ten of the 2003 NFL season had some very bright moments for two former University of North Carolina football players.
David Thornton, linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts, had three tackles, two assists, two pass deflections and one interception in the Colts 28-23 loss to the Jaguars.
Keith Newman, starting at linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons, had three tackles, two assists, and forced one fumble in Atlanta's 27-7 victory over the Giants.
Update on former Tar Heels in the Pros During Week Ten:
-Sam Aiken, Buffalo Bills- substituted at wide receiver and had one reception for a minus two yards in the Bills' 10-6 loss to the Cowboys.
-Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins- substituted at long snapper in Washington's 27-20 victory over Seattle.
-Dre` Bly, Detroit Lions-Not Active.
-Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons-started at tight end and had two receptions for 21-yards in the Falcons' 27-7 victory over the Giants.
-Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders- substituted at wide receiver and had two tackles on special teams in the Raiders 27-24 loss to the Jets.
-Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals- started at defensive end and had one tackle and one pass deflection in the Cardinals' 28-15 loss to the Steelers.
-Kevin Donnalley, Carolina Panthers-started at offensive guard in Carolina's 27- 24 victory over Tampa Bay.
-Ebenbzer Ekuban, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one tackle in the Cowboys 10-6 victory over the Bills.
-Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one tackle, one assist, forced one fumble, and .05 sack in the Cowboys 10-6 victory over the ills.
-Benardo Harris, Baltimore Ravens- Injured Reserve.
-William Henderson, Green Bay Packers- started at fullback and had one reception for zero yards in the Packers' 17-14 loss to the Eagles.
-Zack Hilton, New Orleans Saints- Open Date.
-Sedrick Hodge, New Orleans Saints- Open Date.
-Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs- started at defensive end and had one tackle and one forced fumble in the Chiefs' 41-20 victory over Cleveland.
-Leon Johnson, San Diego Chargers- substituted at running back and had one tackle assist on special teams in the Chargers' 42-28 victory over the Vikings.
-Freddie Jones, Arizona Cardinals- started at tight end and had four receptions for 66-yards in the Cardinals' 28-15 loss to the Steelers.
-Quincy Monk, NY Giants- substituted at linebacker in the Giants' 27-7 loss to the Falcons.
-Keith Newman, Atlanta Falcons- started at linebacker and had three tackles, two assists, and forced one fumble in Atlanta's 27-7 victory over the Giants.
-Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers- started at defensive end and had two tackles in the Panthers' 27-24 victory over the Buccaneers.
-Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers- kicked four point-after-touchdowns in Pittsburgh's 28-15 victory over Arizona.
-Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts- started at center and had one fumble recovery in the Colts' 28-23 loss to the Jaguars.
-Brian Simmons, Cincinnati Bengals- started at linebacker and had three tackles and three assists in the Bengals' 34-27 victory over the Texans.
-Ryan Sims, Kansas City Chiefs- started at nose tackle and one tackle, one assist and one fumble recovery in Kansas City's 41-20 victory over Cleveland.
