Two Tar Heels Named To NFL Pro Bowl

Chapel Hill ----- The University of North Carolina will be well represented at the NFL Pro Bowl this year as tight end Alge Crumpler (1996-2000) and cornerback Dre' Bly (1996-98) have been selected to the annual all-star game in Honolulu. The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.
ly was first among all NFC cornerbacks 242,369 votes and had the seventh-most votes amongst all NFC defensive players in the fan balloting for the 2004 Pro Bowl the NFL. The only three-time first-team All-America in ACC history, Bly is in his fifth season in the NFL and first with the Detroit Lions after signing a lucrative off-season deal.
ly is tied for fifth in the NFL with six interceptions.
Crumpler is in his third season with the Atlanta Falcons. This season, he set personal bests in receptions (40), receiving yards (519) and single-game receiving yards (94, at Dallas, Sept. 7). Crumpler's 40 receptions for 519 yards are the most for a Falcons tight end since Junior Miller had 56 receptions for 574 yards in 1980.
Crumpler was a two-time first-team All-ACC player at Carolina and was selected in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
Carolina had more players selected to the Pro Bowl than any other conference school except Florida State.
