Day Three Of Hokie Invitational Rained Out

SALEM, Va. - The University of North Carolina softball team's game with St. Bonaventure was cancelled this afternoon due to heavy rain. The Tar Heels ended the Hokie Fastpitch Club Classic 4-0 and claimed the team title. Coastal Carolina finished second at 3-1, Georgia State took third at 2-2, while Texas Tech, Virginia Tech and St. Bonaventure finished 1-3. UNC is currently on a eight-game winning-streak.
Junior Dionne Streete (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and freshmen Crystal Cox (Harrisburg, N.C.) and Megan Welch (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) were named to the all-tournament team. Welch led the Tar Heels hitting .500 for the tourney with one double, one triple and five RBIs.
Streete hit .455 over the four games with three doubles, two triples and four RBIs, while Cox went 2-0 on the mound and had one save. She allowed two earned runs in 13.2 innings, striking out 15.
Carolina hit .296 for the weekend and scored 23 runs over the four-game span. UNC heads to the Buzz Classic in Marietta, Ga., March 21-23.
