Women's Golf Ends First Round of Play in Ninth Place

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished the first day of the Bryan National Collegiate in ninth place. Carolina carded a team score of 303, 15-over par.
Duke University is currently in first place with a team score of 286, eight strokes ahead of the second place University of South Carolina team. Duke won the Bryan National Collegiate last year for the second year in a row. Tulsa and Wake Forest are tied for third place with a nine-over-par score of 297. Duke's Kristina Engstrom and South Carolina's Kristy McPherson are tied for first place at three-under-par and a score of 69.
In individual scoring, UNC's senior Meaghan Francella is tied for 10th place with a one-over-par score of 73. Senior Meghan Adams follows her with a first-day total of 75. Junior Ashely Prangetied for 44th place with a score of 77, and freshman Beth Marushak ended tied for 48th place with a score of 78.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament, was played at the par-72, 6,064-yard ryan Park Champions Course.
