UNC Women Golfer's In Fourth Place After First Round of the ACC Tournament

Clemmons, N.C. ? The University of North Carolina women's golf team found themselves in fourth place following the first round of the 2003 ACC tournament . Evidenced by the high scoring, the Tar Heels, along with the rest of the field, found its most formidable competition coming from a driving rain storm and gusting winds. No golfers in the field of thirty shot par or better. Duke University, at 26 over par, leads in team competition. Lead by individual scoring leader Courtney Pomeranz, North Carolina State University resides in second place at 315.
UNC Junior Meaghan Francella leads the Tar Heels in individual scoring and is in a three way tie for fourth place, two strokes off the lead after shooting a six-over-par 77. Teammate Ashley Prange is tied for seventh with a seven-over-par 78.
Competition continues Saturday with the first group teeing off at 8:30 a.m. The ACC Women's Golf Championship is being played at the par 71, 6,348 yard Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C.
