Women's Golf Team Finishes in 11th Place At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

ATHENS, Ga. ? The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished action in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic today in 11th place with a total team score of 914. The three-day total score was 50-over par and 38 strokes behind the first place Duke Blue Devils.
Duke pulled ahead of Florida in the final round of play by 15 strokes to finish in first place with a score of 876. Duke and Florida were tied for first place with a two-day total of 588. Florida finished tied for third place with Wake Forest with both teams carding a final team score of 891. Ohio State came from fifth place and finished second place with a final score of 887.
Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo won the individual championship carding two days at 69 and beating Ohio State's Lindsay Knowlton. Janangelo and Knowlton were tied after two rounds with a score of 141. Janangelo finished six-under par at 210, and Knowlton finished with a final score of 216. Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin pulled away from a four-way tie to take third place and finish with a one-over par score of 217.
Tar Heel junior Meaghan Francella shot on-over par in the last round of competition finishing tied for 17th with a score of 223. She began the tournament at 78, then moved to tie for 26th in the second round.
Junior Ashley Prange tied for 30th after carding a total of 227. Senior Abby Spector finished with a five-over 77 which moved her to tie for 47th. Freshman Beth Marushak tied for 72nd with a total of 242. Senior Meghan Adams is tied for 77th, shooting rounds of 78, 86, and 79 for a total 243. Junior Stacy Hilton played the tournament as an unattached individual and finished at 249 after carding a 79 in the final round, her best round of the tournament.
The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is a 54-hole event played at The University of Georgia Course, a par 72, 6,014-yard layout.
