Carolina's Francella Low Qualifier At Southern Amateur

Fort Myers, Fla. - Carolina golfer Meaghan Francella fired a competitive course record four-under-par 68 to win medalist honors in qualifying for the Women's Southern Amateur Championship played at the Forest Country Club's Bear Course. Teammate Ashley Prange and Tar Heel assistant coach Amber Marsh also qualified for match play which begins today and continues through Friday.
Francella, this year's ACC Champion, carded five birdies and one bogey en route to shooting 68. She birdied two of the first three holes and also finished with birdies on the last two holes. Francella earns the top seed in the 32-player championship flight.
Prange, an honorable mention All-America, fired a one-under 71 while Marsh posted a two-over 74, also advancing to the championship flight.
