I-40 Ramps at NC 54 in Durham County Closed

RALEIGH -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) temporarily closed the eastbound Interstate 40 on- and off-ramps at N.C. 54 in Durham County on Monday, August 11. The ramps are expected to remain closed for approximately 35 days. The work is part of the ongoing I-40 widening project.
I-40 Eastbound motorists needing to travel on NC 54 should use the following signed detour:
*I-40 East to NC 751 to I-40 West to NC 54.
NC 54 motorists needing to travel on I-40 East should use the following signed detour:
*NC 54 to I-40 West to US 15-501 to I-40 East.
Motorists can expect delays, especially before and after Tar Heel football home games on Aug. 30 (Florida State) and Sept. 6 (Syracuse). Local commuters are encouraged to use an alternate route.
