NFL Update: Week Three

In week three of the 2003 NFL season former University of North Carolina football players were instrumental in creating victories by way of the defensive and kicking game. Former Tar Heel standout at linebacker, David Thornton, followed his outstanding performance in week two against Tennessee with eight tackles, two assists, and one sack in the Colts' 23-13 victory over Jacksonville.
Jeff Reed, place kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, added to his totals by completing one 33-yard field goal and two extra points in a victory over Cincinnati.
In a 23-13 loss to Minnesota, former UNC All-American at cornerback Dr? Bly, now playing for the Detroit Lions, had four tackles, one assist, one sack, one interception, and three pass deflections.

-Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins-started at long snapper in Washington's 24-21 overtime loss to the Giants.
-Dr? Bly, Detroit Lions-started at cornerback and had four tackles, one assist, one sack, one interception, and three pass deflections in a 23-13 loss to Minnesota.
-Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons-started at tight end and had three receptions for 31 yards in a 31-10 loss to Tampa Bay.
-Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders-started at wide receiver and had two receptions for 20 yards. Also, had one rush and a subsequent fumble for a 12 yard loss in the Raiders 31-10 loss to Denver.
-Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals-started at defensive tackle and had one tackle in the Cardinals' 20-13 victory over Green Bay.
-Kevin Donnalley, Carolina Panthers-Open date; Carolina will host Atlanta on Sunday, September 28, with a 4:15 p.m. start.
-Ebenbzer Ekuban, Dallas Cowboys- Open date; Dallas will visit the New York Jets on Sunday, September 28, with a 4:15 p.m. start.
-Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys- Open date; Dallas will visit the New York Jets on Sunday, September 28, with a 4:15 p.m. start.
-Benardo Harris, Baltimore Ravens- did not play-injured reserve.
-William Henderson, Green Bay Packers- substituted at fullback and had one kickoff return for nine yards and three receptions for 47 yards in the Packers' 20-13 loss to Arizona.
-Zack Hilton, New Orleans Saints- did not play in the Saints 27-12 loss to Tennessee.
-Sedrick Hodge, New Orleans Saints- not active.
-Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs- started at defensive end and had two tackles and one sack in a 42-14 victory over Houston.
-Leon Johnson, San Diego Chargers- substituted at running back in the Chargers 24-10 loss to Baltimore.
-Freddie Jones, Arizona Cardinals- started at tight end and had two receptions for 32 yards in Arizona's 20-13 victory over Green Bay.

-Bracey Walker, Detroit Lions- substituted at safety and had one tackle on special teams in Detroit's 23-13 loss to Minnesota.
