UNC Women's Golf In Last Place At 2004 Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, TN. - The University of North Carolina's women's golf team finished the first round of the 2004 Mason Rudolph Championship with a score of 320, placing them in last place. UCLA leads the 18-team field with a score of 289, just one over par. Texas is two shots back, while last year's champion, Georgia, is three shots back. Arizona and LSU round out the top 5, as the Wildcats are at 295, and the Tigers are at 296. Host Vanderbilt is in twelfth place along with Wake Forest with a score of 303.
After one day of action, Tulane's Alison Walshe leads the way with a 2 under 70, along with Cassandra Kirkland of Arizona and Perry Swenson of Texas. Seven golfers are one stroke back of the leaders in a tie for fourth place.
Carolina's Ann Laney leads the way for the Tar Heels with a score of 77, five over par. Following Laney is Katie Miller with a score of 78.
The tournament continues Saturday with another round of 18 and concludes on Sunday with a final 18. The 54-hole tournament is being held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club on the Ironhouse Course.
