NFL Update Week Five

Former Tar Heel Julius Peppers recorded an NFL record for longest interception return without a touchdown in week five. Peppers intercepted a pass by Jake Plummer four yards into the Panthers' endzone before returning the ball to the Denver Broncos three-yard line for a return of 101 yards.
Peppers' former UNC football and basketball teammate, Ronald Curry, led the Oakland Raiders in receptions with ten for 72 yards.
Update on former Tar Heels in the NFL during week five:
Sam Aiken, Buffalo Bills - Played wide receiver in the Bills' 16-14 loss to the N.Y. Jets.
Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins - Played defensive tackle in the Redskins' 17-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Dre' Bly, Detroit Lions - Did not play due to injury
Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons - Started at tight end and had one reception for 24 yards in the Falcons' 17-10 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders - Played wide receiver and had ten receptions for 72 yards. He also recorded three tackles and a fumble recovery in the Raiders' 35-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals -- Started at defensive tackle and recorded two tackles in the Cardinals' 31-28 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Ebenezer Ekuban, Cleveland Browns - Started at defensive end and recorded five tackles in the Browns' 34-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys - Started at defensive end and had seven tackles, two sacks, and two pass deflections in the Cowboys' 26-10 loss to the N.Y. Giants.

William Henderson, Green Bay Packers - Started at fullback and had three receptions for eleven yards in the Packers' 48-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs - Open date
Freddie Jones, Arizona Cardinals - Started at tight end and had two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals' 31-28 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Keith Newman, Minnesota Vikings - Started at linebacker and recorded one tackle in the Vikings' 34-28 victory over the Houston Texans.
Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers - Not active in week five
Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers - Started at defensive end and had four tackles and a pass deflection in the Panthers' 20-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. He also returned an interception for 101 yards to set an NFL record for longest interception return without a touchdown.
Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers - Started at kicker and made four extra points. He also recorded two field goals in the Steelers' 34-23 victory over the Cleveland Browns. His long kick of the day was 47 yards.
Dexter Reid, New England Patriots - Played safety and had one tackle and a fumble recovery in the Patriots' 24-10 victory Miami Dolphins
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts - Started at center and blocked for 198 yards of passing and 150 yards of rushing in the Colts' 35-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders.

David Thornton, Indianapolis Colts - Started at linebacker and had five tackles in the Colts' 35-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Michael Waddell, Tennessee Titans - Played cornerback in the Titans' 48-27 win over the Green Bay Packers.
racey Walker, Detroit Lions - Started at strong safety and had two tackles in the Lions' 17-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons
