Carolina's Men's Golf Team In Fifth Place At Duke Golf Classic

Durham, N.C. - Tar Heel sophomore Martin Ureta fired an even par 144 total to lead Carolina to fifth place after two rounds of the Duke Golf Classic. Carolina carded rounds of 295-297 for a 592 total and stands 13 strokes behind Duke, which leads the field of 14 teams, going into Monday's final round of play.
The Blue Devils posted a 579 total after posting rounds of 291-288. Michigan State is in second place with a 588 total while Washington and Baylor are tied for third place with 591 totals.
Matt Harmon of Michigan State leads all golfers with a six-under-par 138 total after firing rounds of five-under 67 and one-under 71. Baylor's Jeremy Alcorn is in second place with a 140 total while a pair of Duke players, Ryan Blaum and Michael Quagliano, are tied for third at three-under 141.
Ureta fired rounds of one-under 71 and one-over 73 for his 144 total which puts him in a tie for fifth place with Michigan's Christian Vozza. Carolina's Matt Crenshaw is one shot back in seventh place with a 145 total while Jonathan Jackson is tied for 22nd at 150, Fernando Figueroa is tied for 40th at 154 and Reed Darsie is tied for 51st with a 155 total. Two Carolina players participated as individuals as Barden Berry is tied for 36th place with a 153 total and Kevin Silva is in 71st at 160.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Monday at the Duke Golf Club which features a par 72, 7,005-yard layout.
