Brackets Set For Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team prepares for play in the 2004 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship to be held Nov. 14-16 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The women's event will take place on the Las Colinas course. Sixteen of the nation's best teams will participate in the modified double-elimination events. North Carolina, seeded 15th, will play second-seed Oklahoma State in the first round. The winner will meet the winner of the seventh-seed New Mexico vs. 10th-seed Florida match in the second round while the losers of those two matches will also play. The first two rounds will take place the first day while the semifinals will be played on Nov. 15 and the finals on Nov. 16.
Carolina has played in three tournaments so far this fall. The Tar Heels finished in sixth place at the Franklin Street Partners Invitational and the Cougar Classic at Yeamans and tied for 17th at the Mason Rudolph Championships. Sophomore Katie Miller tied for 11th place at the Franklin Street Partners Invitational while freshman Ann Laney finished 14th at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans. The Tar Heels are playing in the ACC/SEC Challenge this weekend in Destin, Fla.
The Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship marks Carolina's final event of the fall campaign. The complete list of pairings for the women's championship is listed below:
