North Carolina Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Eighth at Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge

SANDESTIN, Fla. - In the final round at the Raven golf course Duke women's golf came back from a 15-stroke deficit to clinch a victory at this year's Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge. North Carolina finished the tournament tied for eighth with host Florida State.
The Blue Devils trailed the Auburn Tigers by 15-strokes heading into Sunday's final round of play. Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo led the way in the come-from-behind victory with a single-round tournament record of 62 in the final round. Despite shooting its highest score of the tournament in the third round, Auburn only finished one stroke behind Duke to take second place with a tournament total of 857.
Auburn's Diana Ramage took the individual title at this year's event. Ramage finished the tournament with a seven-under-par 206. Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo and Mississippi State's Beth Irwin finished four strokes behind Ramage in a tie for second place.
The Tar Heels finished the tournament with a third-round score of 305 to put them in a tie for eighth place with host Florida State. The two teams finished with a three-day total of 905. Laura Caniff led the way for the Tar Heels with a seven-over-par total score of 220. Caniff finished tied for 15th place. Teammate Ann Laney finished three strokes behind Caniff in a tie for 23rd.
The North Carolina women's golf team returns to action on November 11 when they travel to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. for the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship.
