CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Candace Sutton and Camille Little scored 16 points each Sunday to help No. 11 North Carolina rally past Virginia 70-64 for the Cavaliers' fifth straight loss.
Ivory Latta added 15 and Nikita Bell 14 for North Carolina (22-5, 12-4 Atlantic Coast Conference). Brandi Teamer led Virginia (13-15, 6-10) with 17 points. LaTonya Blue had 14 and Jocelyn Logan-Friend 12 for the Cavaliers.
La'Tangela Atkinson had 13 rebounds to lead North Carolina to a 45-34 rebounding advantage.
Teamer hit three of her first six shots, sending Virginia to a 34-31 halftime lead. Latta scored five points in the first two minutes of the second half, including a 3-pointer that capped a 9-0 run. The Cavaliers then never got closer than 40-39.
North Carolina took advantage of Virginia's poor shooting in the second half to go up 49-39 on a layup and free throw by Atkinson with 11:28 to play. The Tar Heels hit nine of their last 14 shots to seal the victory.
Virginia missed 10 of its first 11 shots after halftime and shot 36 percent for the game. North Carolina shot 42 percent.
