Tar Heels Clinch Lady Gamecock Classic

Blythewood, S.C. - The Tar Heels secured a team and an individual victory in the 2004 Lady Gamecock Classic. Ashley Prange, a senior from Noblesville, Ind., recorded her second career tournament win with a third round score of 74 and a total score of 219. Carolina freshman Katie Miller of Jeannette, Pa., finished tied for second with a total score of 222. Carolina had three golfers in the top five with senior Meaghan Francella tied for fifth at a final score of 226.
The South Carolina Gamecocks finished the tournament nine strokes behind the Tar Heels with a final score of 914. Adrienne Gautreaux and Erica Battle, of the Gamecocks, shared the top five with Carolina's golfers finishing tied for second and fifth respectively.
Next week the Tar Heels travel to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic held March 21-23.
