Tar Heels Eleventh After First Day At Betsy Rawl Longhorns Invitational

AUSTIN, Tx. - After the first 18 holes of golf at The Hills Country Club the Tar Heels are in 11th place with a score of 324. Texas leads the field with a first day total of 309, followed by UNLV's 313.
Chris Brady of Vanderbilt leads the field of individuals with a first round even par 72. Senior Meaghan Francella, of Port Chester, N.Y., leads the Tar Heels in a tie for 17th with a score of 79 and is closely followed by Ashley Prange who fired an 80 to begin the tournament. Romi Irons, Beth Marushak, and Katie Miller round out Carolina's first day tied for 39th, 49th, and 69th, respectively.
Led by Ashley Prange, a senior out of Noblesville, Ind., and the Tar Heels are coming off of two consecutive tournament wins at this year's LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic and the Lady Gamecock Classic. Along with team victories, Prange clinched the individual titles at both events. Tomorrow the Tar Heels look to work their way up the leader board towards a third consecutive victory when they return to action at 8:00 am.
