UNC Men's Tennis Team Jumps Into Top 25

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of North Carolina men's tennis team jumped 15 spots in the most recent rankings released Tuesday by the Intercolleiate Tennis Association. Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels climbed into the Top 25 for the first time this season at the No. 21 spot.
UNC will begin play Thursday in the annual Blue/Gray Invitational at Montgomery, Ala. The Tar Heels are off to their best overall start since the 1977 season as Carolina currently stands 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Tar Heels are the No. 3 seed in the Blue/Gray Invitational and will play No. 55 Louisville Thursday at 3:30 p.m. EST in the Round of 16. The Cardinals are a talented group and have a 6-1 win over Georgia Tech to their credit this year. The other seeds in the tournament are No. 11 VCU first, No. 14 Harvard second and No. 27 Mississippi State fourth.
Senior Nick Monroe is undefeated in 12 dual matches this season and is now ranked No. 37 nationally in singles.
